Great new technology translates to an awesome running shoe!

To start off, I am a competitive runner who runs 40-60 miles a week, ranging from sprints to long distance. I saw a commercial for these shoes and thought the same thing that a lot of people probably thought: "Oh boy, Reebok is just trying to make a pathetic attempt to imitate the Nike Free TR Fit Womens' Sneaker Style# 429785-400." The commercial was well put together, so I decided to research these shoes and quickly discovered that making these shoes was no easy task. It was apparent that Reebok hired experts to design the shoes and put a hefty amount of time into making sure that these shoes were safe for running on trails, concrete, and any other surface that running would have to endure.I have never owned a pair of Nike Free Runs or any shoe that is so low to the ground. Before the Realflex shoes, I ran in a pair of Nike Zoom Victory+, which allowed for an easy transition into these shoes because both are very lightweight. I have owned five pairs of them so these were the first different pair of training shoes that I have bought in about two years.I went to a local store to learn more about these shoes. The store had a sample pair sitting outside for viewing and to examine the shoe. As seen in many of the pictures, the Realflex shoe is very flexible and can be bent to form a full circle, which I didn't really understand the purpose of at first. I have never owned a pair of Nike Free Runs or any shoe that is low to the ground quite like these. The Realflex boasts of a shoe with ample comfort yet lower to the ground than any shoe in its class, allowing for a more natural run. I had a salesperson get me a pair of the Realflex shoes, and half of a size lower than my actual foot size turned out to be the right fit. My first thought was "Wow, these shoes give something back!" I've never tired on a pair of shoes that felt like they've had anywhere near as much spring as these. I jogged around the store and the shoes felt simply amazing. The flexibility of the shoes can really be noticed when standing on ones toes, so these shoes are great for both sprinting (on the toes), or easy distance (midfoot or heel).The only reason why I didn't give these shoes a five star rating concerns the heel of the shoe. The part of the shoe where the Achilles Tendon meets the shoe has a ripple in the fabric. I asked for another pair and it had the same problem, so I assume that most, if not all, of the Realflex shoes have this flaw. Luckily, the ripple flattened out in about 4 hours of wearing and was no problem at all. If you go to the store and feel the same problem in the heel, I urge you to ignore it any buy the shoes anyway, knowing that it will subside in no time at all.Now I understand that everybody is not a hardcore runner, but I do think that this shoe is beneficial for just about anybody that runs. A runner who puts in a lot of miles each week will appreciate this shoe because it is lightweight and a comfortable shoe. On the other hand, a moderate runner will appreciate this shoe because they're not luggin around an extra 8oz on each foot, which is the actual weight of some of the heavier running shoes.To conclude, this shoe is a great deal. For a relatively low price, you are purchasing some of the most advanced technology in any running shoe ever created. This shoe is great for just about any runner, and provides great cushioning and flexibility for the runner. My advice to you is this: buy this shoe!!!

best pair of running shoes my husband has owned

After going through two pairs of Nike Frees, my husband was ready to try something new. While his original pair of 7.0 Frees lasted for several years and were superb, his second pair of Frees began deteriorating (parts of the sole peeling away) after only a few months and they never really seemed to fit comfortably (despite getting them sized for him). He was interested in the Vibrams and Inov8 shoes, but the designs were a little too much and they seemed to have as many supporters as opposers. He liked the New Balance Minimus line, but the MT10's seemed to have a lot of issues, particularly with the tight toe band.Enter the MT20. He decided to take the plunge on this updated model, and has been thoroughly impressed since day one. Here is what he would like to share about the shoe:1) Lightweight but sturdy: Out of the box the shoe is incredibly light and the Vibram sole construction is top notch. Despite being a minimal design, these feel sturdy and the attention to rugged construction is evident, which is typical of the New Balance brand.2) Fit was accurate: The fit ran true to his shoe size right out of the box, he did not need to go up or down or for the wider size (He's had problems with Nike and Adidas always being too narrow).3) Comfort: They are probably the most comfortable pair of shoes he has owned to date. The heel cup padding in particular is excellent, and even without socks there hasn't been any irritation.4) Performance: Performance wise, the Vibram soles are terrific. Not too springy, and not too pliable, they provide a perfect balance between a barefoot feel and providing protection from sharp rocks and glass. They give great traction on grass and dirt without a large tread profile that defeats their purpose. He chose the Trail model because he does 90% of his running on grass and dirt trails, but he's been able to put some road miles on these and confirm that they do just fine and would see no issues with putting a lot of pavement miles on these.5) Color: The designs might not be to everyone's liking, but he thinks they look much better in person than they do in pictures and he receives a lot of positive questions about them when he wears them to the gym for a lifting workout (as a side note, these make great deadlifting shoes).These shoes have exceeded expectations and are easily the best pair of running shoes he has owned right out of the box. My husband would recommend anyone looking for a trail running minimal shoe to start here.

Homerun for ASICS

There is always a price point in any company's running shoe line where there are diminishing returns beyond that price. For new balance its the 1226. For Brooks its the Adrenaline GTS 11. Out pacing them all is the ASICS GTS 2160. I own the Asics gel Nimbus 12 and the Kayano 17. For the money the sweet spot in their lineup is the 2160. Asics just keeps getting it right with this 2100 series shoe. I will go out on a limb and state their is no better running shoe in the world at this price point. Cushioning is top notch. The stitching and design of the uppers is excellent. The interior materials are also a grade above most running shoes. I have other shoes like the Nike Vomero 5, a slew of New Balance shoes and a slew of Brooks runners. I bought this shoe in all Black thinking it was a lower end Asics product and I would use it as a walking shoe. Boy was I wrong. You can pay more but you won't get more. Since I got this shoe I did some additional research and found out I was not the only one who knew the secret about this shoe. In fact ASICS sells more 2100 series shoes than any other shoe in the world. The problem with these shoes is once you put them on you won't want to take them off. It feels great walking running working and hiking. Very light and flexible but still with enough support to make even the finicky runner happy. This is the top seller and now I know why and you do too. Quality at a discount price. Can somebody make an all Brown running shoe so I can wear them to work !! I have not considered buying the same model running shoe from any company. This is likely a repeat purchase. I need a good excuse. My wife thinks I've lost my mind with all these running shoes. Truth is these shoes will make you want to run 7 days a week. And isn't that the point in the first place.

CLASSIC BOMBER FLIGHT JACKET

I have owned many of these jackets over the years. I purchased this one about one year ago and it is my favorite in cold weather months when I'm oustide. It's not very comfortable inside (you may perspire a lot) because it's made for colder weather outdoors or high up in the air where it can get cold. If it's below 40 degrees outside then just slip on a turtleneck (to keep your neck warm) a muffler and wear this coat over both of them. Many hats go well with this jacket; baseball caps, driving caps, knit winter hats, ski hats, etc. It's my favorite in colder outside weather. Many complain about the side pockets being too far to the side. That doesn't bother me because I enjoy wearing either tactical gloves (black by Under Armour) or just simply black baseball batting gloves (Under Armour or NIKE) because each of such gloves fit snugly which allows you to perform many outdoor tasks and even driving in colder freezing winter weather. You can always wear heavier thicker gloves if you are going to be seated outside at a stadium or watching a cold outdoor weather parade. The classic look of this jacket goes well with dress, casual or even sweat pants. The leather in this jacket is well constructed and well worth the price. In the past I have paid more than twice what this leather bomber jacket cost that were not made of this quality of leather. You will not be disappointed with this coat unless possibly you insist on always placing your hands in your pockets. These pockets are smart and snug and you can place small objects in them. The cuffs on the wrists are my favorite style because they are knit and fit snugly. If you do buy one then make sure to place your name in it somewhere because this jacket will be liberated if you set it down somewhere and expect to find it later. The jacket looks exactly as it does in the photo. It was well packaged and arrived in excellent new condition. You will enjoy this for yourself or also as a fine holiday gift for someone on your gift list. I ordered size XXXL because that is my size in an outdoor winter coat to be worn over a turtleneck and a scarf. Mine arrived true to size.

And the New Winner is......

You guessed it. The Kayano 17 from ASICS is the best running shoe I currently own. And I currently own too many pairs of running shoes. The New Balance 1906 ,1226 and the 993. I also own the ASICS GT 1260 and the Nike Vomero 5 and the Equalon 4. I have the Brooks Beast and the Trance 10. Afraid to buy Saucony because of the lack of a wide width (2E) option. I have not been an ASICSs fan before. In fact I sent back a pair of ASICS Kinetics because the hell strike was stiff. I had declared the Brooks Trance 10 my favorite of all time but I gave ASICS one more try and I feel fortunate the Kayano 17 was my reward. There is no question in my mind that every time I put on these shoes I want to work out and run. I have been finding many excuses to wear them. Cushion is unmatched. The hell fit and toe fit and forefoot fit and finish are a godsend. I wish I could buy 2. Like I said I already own too many running shoes. That said I broke down and have a pair of the new ASICS Nimbus on the way as this is being written. Will give a report on these later. This shoe is good for heavy runners and was built for the mild to moderate overpronator. I usually buy Neutral + shoes. These still balance out nicely. ASICS built a shoe that virtually anyone would be happy with. This is extremely difficult to do given the various foot types which exists. These shoes are not mushy and energy return is excellent. I run about 21 to 25 miles weekly and this is my "go to" shoe. Some really under appreciated thought and technology went into this shoe. I'm betting the Kaynao 16 is also stellar and if the price keeps dropping I could be lured into getting a pair as well. Looks like ASICS is really focused in on their running shoes and the Kayano could well be the cream of the crop. Hey like I said I was not an ASICS fan and now I will likely buy nothing else unless another brand has a crazy sale on a top of the line shoe. I'll will post a review of the Nimbus after I've worn them awhile. This now makes this my 3rd ASICS purchase in the last month. That speaks volumes as to what I think of this shoe company. Buy them while you still can. This will be and already is a highly sought after shoe.

Brooks Beast '12 not as good as Beast '11

I have bad feet and I tear up my shoes rather quickly, so I buy a new pair every 5-8 months. I don't make a lot of money, I don't have mush to spend on extras, but comfort is one thing I always splurge on. I figure $300 a year for something I will be spending nearly half my time in is money well spent. I am wide footed and wear 10.5 4E. Decent wide width shoes are hard to find. People with wide feet are more limited. Most shoes run a little narrow. All Nike shoes I've bought in the past were too narrow. Some lines of shoes don't offer wide shoes and even some brands don't offer wide shoes. So, when I shop for shoes, I try to find the perfect pair for me, and I spend days researching shoes online.Last year I bought the Brooks '11, which was the first time I've ever wore a Brooks brand shoe. At first I was unimpressed, but reviews said that it may take time to break them in and they were right. After a few weeks the shoes became the ...not sure if they were the most comfortable or second most comfortable shoe I've ever wore. New Balance 993's were also very nice.Anyway, after 8 months, it was time for a new pair. I was going to order the same pair, but I saw that a newer version was available. The new version was a tab bit more expensive, but I liked the new style and figured it would probably be superior to my last pair in every way. But I was wrong.I ordered a pair through Zappos, put them on, and went for a walk. I immediately noticed that they were more narrow and my feet felt a little cramped, but I figured I would break them in and they'd stretch out. And for the most part, they did stretch out, but not quite like I wanted. After about a month, they were still kinda uncomfortable. I could tell they were completely broken in.They also seem to have tore up quicker. It's been about 4 months, and I think I need a new pair of shoes. The pleasing style of the shoe has maintained from the Brooks '11, but everything else seems to have diminished slightly. I think I'm going to try the Asics Kayano 19 next and perhaps try the Brooks '13 when it comes out, which I think will officially determine my opinion of the brand.I think for $140 there are way better shoes out there.

floppy hat

I received this wadded into a ball and it was badly creased and wrinkled. I had two choices one was try and fix the problem or return the hat. I decided to take one for the team and try and fix the problems with this hat since it was to be a gift. First of all remember this hat is made of paper. Ok, I rolled up a couple washcloths and a hand towel and put them into the hat. I then sprayed the hat with warm water lightly. I set the hat on a towel on my kitchen table. I smoothed the hat with my and starting with the crown stuffed with towels I then smoothed the brim with my hands. I let it dry and I went back in a hour to see how the creases were doing. I managed to smooth the worst of the creases in the crown out but the brim still had a few deep creases. I then put a pressing cloth on the brim and sprayed it and lightly Ironed the brim. I used a medium setting on my iron. I then let it dry again and the hat now looks very nice. If this was a straw hat you can dunk it in warm water and then shape it. I know as my husband and my son sat on many hats over the years. However, since this is a paper hat do not wet it to much and I got most of the crases out just smoothing it with my hands. The iron was a last resort and I knew that I could not iron back and forth just press the creases. This seller does a poor job of mailing hats as well this hat was balled up. I have had paper hats mailed to me in plastic bags that arrived unscathed and in perfect condition several times this year. I wear hats all the time because of skin cancer so I have a lot of experience with this. I bought this for My Granddaughter as she also has fair skin and I hope to get her in the habit of wearing hats. Since this does not have a ribbon on this I bought a ribbon and a pink rose to put around the crown. so if you get a really creased hat try and fix it and if that does not work return it. Saucony walking shoe

Since I started exercising regularly eight years ago, I only bought Nike shoes. Because they run small, I would have to get a half-size larger but they fit fine. Then I started having more and more problems finding Nike shoes which fit. Shoes a half-size larger didn't fit anymore and even going up a full size didn't always work. The last pair that I bought last year at the Nike outlet in Las Vegas were OK and I wondered if it was due to them being made in Indonesia, instead of China or Vietnam. However, I had no luck when looking for shoes locally.So when I saw the Cyber Monday shoe deal and started browsing, I noticed the reviews of the Saucony athletic shoes and was impressed. I decided to order the walking shoe (half-size larger per review comments). I was a bit apprehensive about getting white, leather shoes but when these arrived yesterday, I was so pleased. They are very well-made and amazingly light. I wore them today when I went grocery shopping and didn't realize until I got home that I had not put the inserts (for plantar fasciitis) in the shoes. For the past year, walking any distance without the inserts hasn't been possible. I love these shoes!

Tougher than the Tough Mudder

I love these shoes.They are well made, have a very comfortable heel, plenty of room in the toe box, broke in quickly and conformed to my foot. I really like the lacing system and the toe cap. I tend to stub my toes near the end of trail runs, and this has saved me from several black toes.I recently wore these in the Tough Mudder. I was one of the few people that wasn't slipping and sliding all over the place. Traction is terrific in almost any terrain, though they obviously aren't shoes for serious road work. The laces kept them on my feet in the worst of shoe-sucking mud pits. The clasp on the laces did get gunked up and made it difficult to remove the shoe, but worked just fine once the mud was rinsed out.I do occasionally have some issues with rocks getting into the heel (running downhill on gravel is the worst), but all shoes would have that problem so I won't hold it against them.They won't keep your foot from getting wet, but they dry very quickly and don't hold water in like some of my previous shoes. (I'm looking at you, Nike Shox.)They cleaned up very easily. Just rinsed off the worst of the mud and gravel and threw them in the washer. Presto.These won't be the greatest in the winter because they are too breathable.They don't have a lot of arch support, but there is plenty of room to add if needed.If you are looking for a great trail shoe, I'd highly recommend these. Definitely well-made and worth the money.***UPDATE***I've worn these shoes for over 50 miles of trail races and countless training miles. While I see a little wear on the lugs, they are still in nearly new condition. The laces and slider have held up well and the shoe itself still looks and feels great. Don't even think I'll need a new pair for racing season this year. Definitely have held up very well!!

Nice Boot - Runs Small

I ordered these boots for my son (11), who is going on a backpacking trip with Boy Scouts in a month, because they are waterproof, look good, and are well priced. I was happy when they arrived because they looked well made and sturdy. However, when my son tried them on, his big toes touched the front of the shoe. I ordered them in his correct size, 4.5. About 2 weeks ago, I bought him 2 pairs of sneakers in that size: Nike and Tony Hawk. We measured his feet at the time. Both pairs still fit fine, with room to spare in the front. So I know 4.5 is his correct size. I returned these and ordered a 1/2 size larger (size 5). They are perfect! My son really likes them, too. He wore them to a week of Boy Scout overnight camp (that included hiking), a week of day camp (that included LONG hikes), and on a short Boy Scout backpacking trip. The insides got wet when he walked in the river, but he told me that the water sloshed over the tops, so I do not know if they are really waterproof. You might want to order up a 1/2 size in these boots, as they seem to run small.

Close to orthotic grade

I am a physician during the day and an avid basketball player at night. I never use the stock insoles that come with my nike basketball shoes. They just won't cut it. The Sole inserts are the best non-prescription orthotic grade insoles your can buy over the counter (internet). These will mold to your feet after heating them in the oven for a few minutes. The arch supports and padding are fantastic. They add to your balance and help to align your back and prevent foot injuries. I have at least 10 pair of these and I love 'em. They are the best.

An excellent buy (realflex vs. free's)

Bought the Reebok Realflex at a local retail store and used them for about a weekend. They are light and comfortable and had very good cushioning(insoles) for the heel. I've used it with and without socks and there hasn't been an issue with chafing in the heel or anywhere else. The downside, if you're new to "barefoot" shoes or prosethically designed athletic shoes be prepared to feel the soreness in your ankles. On the first day of "breaking in" the shoes my ankles were killing me for two days. Just be sure to take your time with them.Athletic background: I've been cross training and weight lifting for about two years and have used the same athletic shoes since college (6 years ago). I just decided to buy these shoes because I recently learned the advantages of proper shoes for certain activitities and because I realized (the hard way) that my shoes lost most of it's treading/grip (it was practically bald). I don't run long distances (< 3 miles) so my opinion about these being good running shoes might be partial; however, I know a thing or two about what's good for your body ;)Realflex vs. Nike Free's: When I decided to invest in better athletics shoes I simply narrowed it down to these two shoes simply based on popularity, reviews, versatility, and friends' opinions. I also didn't want to spend more that a Benjamin on REALLY good and properly fitting running shoes (Asics, Saucony, New Balance, etc.) because I don't run much. I tried both shoes on and hopped, skipped, walked, and jogged around the store on two different ocassions with two different friends and two different sales associates (for opinions) before purchasing one (a bit OCD? yes). The issue I had with the Nike Free's was the form it MADE you run. I underpronate as a runner, a little of a heel striker, and I have medium/low arch height. The Frees' insole's had supportive cushioning at the heel but close to none at the ball of the foot. I suppose to promote proper running on the ball of your foot with a mid foot strike in your run, but forcing a change in one's form can be costly to the joints, muscles, foot, and can lead to serious injury. The Reebok Realflex has very equal and supportive cushioning throughtout the sole of with more than enough arch support, which I feel is more versatile. The Realflex can accomodate people who overpronate or underpronate in their stride because the sole is designed to move "naturally" with whoever uses it. On the same note, the Nike Free's sole wedges out wider than the shoe or the footprint is wider than the actual width of the shoe; in other words, the sole is shaped like a trapezoid (I'm hoping this is understood) which again makes it hard for someone like me who underpronates to run the way I do, "naturally". The Realflexs' sole isn't shaped like that (looks a bit convexed) and accomodates my natural stride. Lastly, the sole grip on the Realflex is actually better/stronger than the Nike Free's (this I tested at the store both times with the sales associates there to justify). The great grip on the Realflex is advantageous for tennis, racket ball, or running "suicides" on the bball court (which I hate, but is great cardio).Hope this helps! Happy shopping ;)

Great quality, great value

My husband used to wear performance fabric shirts to keep him cool when he was a bartender at a club with a patio. Recently we joined a gym and he started looking for some new shirts but complained how expensive they were. So I checked Amazon and voila! This double dry training t shirt is just what he wanted--at a great price! I ordered the air force blue in large. It's a little big, but fine for exercising. (My husband is 5'7" and normal weight.) He says he is so much more comfortable and cooler when he works out in this shirt than in a regular cotton shirt. I ordered him a second one in white.

Nike Dart Shoe's

I ordered these shoe's for my roommate for Christmas & he loves them. He says they helped his arches, which are flat, & they helped his low back. He stands, sits, & walks a lot at work, in electronics. These Nike's look even better in person than in the pictures.
